Ultrasound

Miller PT combines manual therapy with ultrasound therapy during your PT sessions to increase mobility and decrease pain!

Ultrasound is one of the numerous modalities we use at Miller PT to increase the temperature deep beneath the skins surface (5 cm) to loosen muscles and tendons. Ultrasound uses acoustic energy (sound waves) to mechanically deform molecules eliciting specific physiological effects. Ultrasound uses a transducer (wand) that has a crystal within it what vibrates and creates the acoustic energy. The effects include increasing cellular metabolism, protein synthesis, nerve conduction and decreasing muscle spindle firing which in turn relaxes muscular spasms.

Ultrasound therapy can treat many different conditions including the following:

  • Muscle strains
  • Joint strains
  • Trigger points
  • Muscle spasms (Acute or Chronic)
  • Tennis or Golfers elbow
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Low back pain
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Scar remodeling
  • Edema control
  • Unspecified/specified pain management
  • Sciatica
  • Piriformis Syndrome
  • Non-specific neck & shoulder pain
  • Foot/ankle pathologies including ligament sprains, surgical repairs, fractures

Combining Ultrasound therapy to your physical therapy sessions can help reduce your edema and pain while helping you achieve your goals even faster.
